What better excuse to go to Dublin than under the premise of studying something? That way you can make the most out of the Dublin lifestyle while leaving everyone back at home in awe of your scholarly ambitions. If you’re lucky, you might even learn a thing or two in the process as well.
There are far, far worse places to study than in Dublin’s Trinity College. The buildings are absolutely beautiful and the peaceful grounds seem utterly oblivious to the thriving city-life just outside. The university itself is a proper posh affair – and comes complete with a boat club, a cricket team, and complicated words shooting from campus conversations like erudite bullets.
However if you are unable to foot the bill for getting a full degree at Trinity College, you might opt for a summer course instead. Better yet, if you have sufficient brain-power, get a scholarship and go for free.
A wide variety of courses are on offer ranging from research methods to drama and you can choose either to stay with a host family or be provided with on-campus accommodation.
Usually, if you go for the host family option, all your meals and bus passes will be included while in the case of staying on-campus, you will be provided with breakfast and the use of kitchen facilities. Prices for courses would be at around €3300 although as with the courses themselves, they would vary greatly.
Most courses would have a limited capacity although many of them would also reserve a percentage of places for students coming from outside of Ireland.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the choice of courses you can take, why not opt for an Irish subject? Ireland-related courses include Irish Literature, Irish Drama, Post-Famine Irish History, Gaelic Culture, and Critical Issues in Contemporary Ireland.
