Take a Guided Tour

Not all people have an adventurous spirit and enjoy branching out on their own to explore a foreign city.  Others may wish to be more economical with their time and so be directed straight to the attractions.  Whatever your reason, if you want to get right down to it and see all the popular tourist sights in a quick and efficient manner, then a guided tour is what you’re after.

Many tourist agencies provide some highly entertaining and informative tours that focus on diverse aspects of Dublin.  Popular tours are the standard walking tours that would take tourists around a selected area of the city such as the North Side, the Georgian and Victorian areas, and the Medieval part to name but a few.  Another alternative is a Historic Tour where a history graduate from Trinity College will walk you in the footsteps of a historic personality or major event.  Book lovers on the other hand may opt for a Literary Pub Crawl.  This would see you in the company of some actors who would guide you to a selection of literary pubs while also performing extracts from some of Dublin’s best-known writers.

Dublin visitors who have a taste for the macabre would also find a variety of Ghost Tours that take them to various sites around Dublin that are associated with horror or the supernatural.  These range from notorious murders, to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If you don’t feel like walking however fear not – for tours on a double-decker bus are also offered by the majority of agencies and if you really want something different, guided cruises on the River Liffey are also available by boat.
