For an efficient and inexpensive way to travel, the bus is a firm favourite in any city. The Dublin bus service is operated by the Dublin Bus company and although the buses are indeed inexpensive, they can often be a crowded and slow experience. Nevertheless, buses are probably the most efficient means of getting to Dublin attractions that are outside the city centre and inaccessible to the DART. Such places include Phoenix Park and the National Botanical Gardens.
Buses may be caught from bus stops in places like O’Connell Street, Eden Quay, and Ashton Quay and their numbers and routes would be listed on the stops themselves. Services typically run every 15 minutes between 6am and 11:30pm. Suburban buses also operate on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights until 3am. Fares depend on the number of stops travelled so it would be best to ask the driver when you get on board. However, it’s always good to remember to have lots of loose coins on you since exact fare is usually required. If you require more information you can call Dublin Bus on 01-873-4222.
Buses may also be used for a variety of different functions. They could take you on sightseeing tours or shuttle you to the airport or to one of the main rail stations. Alternatively, if you are organising an event in Dublin such as a wedding, you could even hire a bus to ensure that all your guests arrive easily, safely, and simultaneously.
