Go Clubbing

There are people who love spending a quiet evening nursing a pint followed by an early night so as to make the most of the following morning.

Others however seem to prefer a somewhat livelier evening; mostly spent jamming their skulls with a pumping beat while bouncing around from one uber-hip establishment to another.  If you count yourself among the latter demographic then you’ll feel right at home in Dublin.

Apart from enjoying a steadily growing popularity as a holiday destination among young people, Dublin also possesses a high concentration of students.

With such a large amount of enthusiastic and energetic people all eager to party in the proper Irish way, it may come as no surprise to know that the club culture in Dublin is strongly developed.

Indeed clubbing features very prominently in Dublin social life and new places are continuously opening, closing, refurbishing, and opening again as the latest trends are rigorously adhered to.

With such a rapidly changing party landscape, you can never really know what to expect from Dublin and therefore it’s quite impossible to get bored.  Popular nightclubs in Dublin include Boomerangs, Club M, Tripod, Spirit, The Playhouse, and Lillie’s Bordello.

Nightclubs usually open at around 10pm and close at 3am with last orders called at 2:30am.  Entrance prices range from €5 to €15 but these can rise dramatically on special occasions such as New Year’s Eve or when a big DJ is playing.

As with clubs all over the world, the cost of drinks would also be somewhat inflated with an average pint costing between €5 and €6. The dress code depends on the individual club although as a general rule sneakers are a no-no.

If you’re visibly drunk, look too young, or arrive as a part of a large and rowdy group, your entrance prospects are also unlikely.

A new phenomenon in Dublin is the advent of the Super Pubs. These are essentially very large pubs containing multiple bars and dance floors and can stay open as late as night clubs.
