Perfect Indian

As with Asian cuisine, Indian has become a favourite in Europe – and Dublin is no exception. Dublin has a vast array of Indian Food restaurants which offer patrons a wonderful treat of this delicacy. Walking into an Indian restaurant is like walking into another dimension - where you are met by a wonderful smell characterized by their sophisticated and subtle use of many spices and herbs.

Indian food is as diverse as the many ethnic and cultural groups in India. Tradition, ethnicity, geographic location, religion or individual preference defines a typical meal Thali (a large plate with small bowls dishes). A typical Indian meal consists of starch, lentils or beans, vegetables and meat.

Indian restaurants pride themselves on authentic and welcoming décor, so expect to find lots of deep red and gold décor, comfy seating, and well-dressed waiters in the more traditional Indian restaurants. Modern equivalents may be less authentic, opting for a minimalist look instead but they will be light, bright, airy and comfortable.

If you are heading to an Indian restaurant for the first time and want to sample as much of the cuisine as possible then why not choose an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet restaurant, which serves its dishes in a buffet-style environment for a set price, so you can try everything on the menu!

A word of advice: many Indians are either Hindus or Muslims, so many Indian restaurants do not serve beef or pork. So unless you see it on the menu, do not ask for these meats as restaurateurs might get offended if you do. And anyway, those meats are not really an Indian specialty, so the safest bet is to choose chicken, goat, lamb and fish.
