Full Irish Breakfast

When you’re anywhere in Ireland, you really want to experience Ireland’s flavours, be it its folk music and dancing, its turbulent history, the cheery dialects and especially the famous Irish breakfasts.  The full Irish breakfast consists of sausages, black and white pudding, bacon and farm-fresh eggs.  ‘Chubbing up’ is the local term for declaring that you’re feasting on a delicious hearty breakfast which would keep you going all morning as you hop from one attraction to the next.

Depending on which part of Ireland you’re staying, you might find baked beans, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms thrown into the mix although most Dubliners would hasten to tell you that that’s an English addition.  The black pudding is made of congealed blood and is a staple throughout Europe, where it is known under a variety of different names.

A generous helping of Irish butter and famous Irish preserves will sweeten your palate as they complement a few good-sized chunks of fresh Irish brown bread, made of oatmeal and the finest milled wheat.  A steaming cup of Irish breakfast tea, with its smooth blend of black Assam teas will top off the entire experience with its medium rich aroma tastefully blended with an abundance of milk or served neat with a slice of lemon.

Most places that you’re likely to stay at will boast a generous Irish breakfast table come morning.  If the establishment you’re eating at calls it an ‘Irish Breakfast’, it would probably cater mostly for tourists.  However, if the meal is referred to simply as ‘breakfast’, you would have probably stumbled on a kitchen that deals with locals and it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that you’re in for a truly memorable meal.
