Ride a Horse

Ireland is also known as the Land of the Horse, so it isn’t surprising to see that horse riding venues abound.  In Dublin you’ll find a wealth of horse riding schools that will present you with a pleasant day spent riding a horse in the lush countryside just outside the city.  If you’re a seasoned rider you’ll no doubt relish the chance of riding in a different setting and getting acquainted with a new horse.  If you’re a complete novice, Ireland is an ideal place to experiment with horse riding. The many stables to be found in and around Dublin are very proud of their animals and would provide you with some valuable hints – not to mention an idyllic environment where you can try out your newfound skills.

Several equestrian centres also offer visitors a chance to try out a variety of different activities such as archery, coarse fishing, and clay pigeon shooting. The latter in particular can be a great way of shedding any extra stress that you may have accumulated back at home.  After all, what better way to unwind than blasting a few shotgun shells into a flock of unsuspecting (and inanimate) pigeons?  As always, first-timers will be accompanied by experienced instructors who would be happy to share their knowledge of the sport with you. Whatever you do however, just make sure that you don’t try horse riding and clay pigeon shooting at the same time.  It’s dangerous, reckless, and just plain silly.
